Annual Research Conference
Since 1990, the NRI has been hosting an Annual Conference on State Mental Health
Services Research, Program Evaluation, and Policy. The Conference focuses on
research and evaluation on mental health services within state mental health
systems.
Behavioral Healthcare Performance Measurement
System (BHPMS)
The NRI provides data management and reporting services to over
200 state hospitals and other psychiatric inpatient programs. The BHPMS has met the criteria for
inclusion in the accreditation process and is included on The Joint Commission’s list of
acceptable systems to compile and submit data in response to The Joint Commission's ORYX®
requirement. The BHPMS is committed to meeting future criteria established by The Joint Commission.
Center for Mental Health Quality and
Accountability (CMHQA)
The NRI provides support to state mental health agencies to develop
and implement evidence based practices, performance measures, and
quality improvement processes by developing coordinated, coherent
strategies related to research, implementation, and knowledge management.
Other State Government Agency Mental Health Services Project
(OSA)
The NRI has entered a second phase study of other state government
services and expenditures for mental health. The study addresses
the issue of the additional resources being expended by state governments
to provide mental health services expenditures outside the state
mental health agencies.
State Mental Health Agency Revenues
and Expenditures Studies
The NRI regularly compiles the only national database on the mental
health expenditures and revenues of state mental health agencies.
The NRI has compiled financial data about state mental health funded
services since 1981.
State Mental Health Agency Profiles
System (Profiles)
The NRI maintains databases about the structure, service systems,
emerging policy issues, consumer issues, and research and evaluation
activities of state mental health agencies. The Profiles System’s
databases from 1996 to present are accessible on-line.
State Data Infrastructure Coordinating
Center (SDICC/URS/DIG)
The NRI operates the State Data Infrastructure Coordinating Center
(SDICC) Phase II that collaborates with CMHS and the states to
improve the use of mental health performance indicators, enhance
state information systems capacities, and facilitate reporting
on performance indicators and federal mental health block grant
information to CMHS.
Technical Assistance around Data and Reporting
The NRI provides technical assistance to states requesting
individualized services. In the past, NRI provided specific services
to Alabama, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon, South Carolina,
Texas, and Wyoming. To discuss opportunities, contact NRI.
