ABOUT CMHQA
Established in October of 2002, the Center for Mental Health Quality and Accountability is a major component of the NASMHPD
Research Institute, Inc. and is accountable to the NRI Board.
The Center's mission is to promote quality and accountability
in state mental health systems by providing support in the
development and implementation of evidence-based practices,
performance measurement, and quality improvement processes.
CMHQA provides a unique juncture of research, policy and
practice: CMHQA collaborates closely with policymakers, administrators,
consumers, family members, researchers, providers and advocacy
groups. CMHQA directly collaborates with all US State Mental
Health Authorities to translate science into service for
both the adult and children systems. The other partnerships
cover a variety of activities including product development,
system evaluation, consensus building, and knowledge transfer.
Key Functions are:
- Knowledge Management – CMHQA serves
as a repository of information related to research and
innovative, exemplary programs. CMHQA hosts national and
regional conferences and meetings.
- Knowledge Development – CMHQA
initiates and collaborate on projects to develop and enhance
implementing evidence-based practices, performance measurement
and quality improvement. CMHQA works to build the evidence
base for emerging and promising practices.
- Knowledge Transfer – CMHQA
provides several mechanisms for technical assistance (on-site,
web-based, phone, fax, etc.)
