State Mental Health Authorities and
Providers
Evidence-based practices (EBPs) merge the best and most relevant scientific research data with clinician experience and consumer preferences. However, a significant gap still exists between the best research evidence in mental health and the application of this evidence to clinician practices.
Using this Site
Information and resources provided on this site are designed to educate State mental health agencies and provider agencies about:
- Definitions of evidence-based practices
- Issues surrounding the implementation of evidence-based practices
- Specific evidence-based practices available for children, adults, and older adults
- Current state of evidence-based practice implementation activities
The Importance of Evidence-Based Practices
Evidence-based practices are not widely offered in routine mental health practice settings. Incorporating EBPs into community mental health settings can increase productivity, improve client outcomes, and streamline communication between consumers and practitioners.
