HOSPITAL BASED INPATIENT PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES (HBIPS) CORE MEASURE SET

  • NRI was a key organization in the development of the HBIPS core measure set along with National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS), National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD), The American Psychiatric Association (APA) and The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • HBIPS is a major, national leadership effort to improve quality, safety, and performance of hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services through the collaboration of hospitals, physicians, and consumers.
  • Since 2007, NRI has served free standing psychiatric hospitals using the HBIPS measure set to fulfill the requirements of performance measurement reporting to TJC.
  • NRI has also made participation with HBIPS available for BHC accredited facilities.
  • As announced by TJC, free-standing psychiatric hospitals are required to report the HBIPS core measure set starting with January 2011 discharges/episodes; it is time to determine how your facility will meet the requirements.
