JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Research Associate


The NASMHPD Research Institute, Inc., (NRI) is seeking a Research Associate interested in working in a team atmosphere studying issues surrounding the delivery of public mental health services supported by state mental health agencies. Independent and nonpartisan, the NRI responds to current needs for objective analyses and basic information, and attempts to facilitate the application of research findings to management of state mental health programs. The Research Associate performs basic quantitative research involving the organization, funding, operation, services, policies, statutes, staffing and the consumers of State Mental Health Agencys (SMHA), conducts original data collection, secondary analysis; and drafts written reports or develops products as needed. The Research Associate works with team members on NRI projects.

The qualified applicant with possess a Masters Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or Statistics or related field and one years experience in writing analytical (research) reports or materials, and using statistical software or spreadsheet software to perform statistical analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of research methods and descriptive statistics and appropriateness of procedures is essential as is knowledge of qualitative methodologies including case study and focus groups. Knowledge of, and experience with, mental health services and systems helpful. Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and/or multiple projects simultaneously. Experience and skill utilizing the advanced features of software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.) required. Experience with statistical software, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, SPSS and Crystal Reports.
